40s WW2 Vintage 5th USAAF M41 Field Jacket - Medium

Original, genuine US Military issue

Circa 1940s

A wonderful, originally patched M41 jacket, worn by a Gunner Technical Sergeant with the 5th US Army Air Forces.

The Aerial Gunner Badge was awarded to enlisted airmen of the USAAF who completed gunnery training and served as defensive gunners, operating mounted .50 Cal Browning machine guns aboard bombers such as the B-17, B-24, B-25, B-26, and B-29.

The 5th USAAF operated across a wide area in the Pacific theatre throughout the Second World War and played a pivotal role in the region.

The predecessor to all modern field jackets, the M41 features a 100% cotton wind-resistant poplin shell, fully lined with a light wool blanket material. It displays a full zip front closure with a button-secure storm flap. A true heritage garment, made when clothes were designed to last a lifetime.

The jacket exhibits signs of real wear, which is represented in its condition and immense character. Please study the photos carefully. At some point, a large American flag was added to the upper back; although it has since been removed, traces of red dye from the flag have bled through and remain visible. The original zip remains, but a replacement, genuine USGI puller has been added later - It runs perfectly.
